The PAC recommended that the Board of Advisers be abolished and Article 117 be removed.
PRESS STATEMENT Umno/Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders and propagandists are misleading the people on the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Report on 1MDB and the Auditor-General’s final audited report on the trouble-stricken government-owned company. I have read through the 106-page PAC Report on the RM50 billion 1MDB Scandal.
I cannot find any exoneration of the Prime Minister who is also Chairman of the Advisory Board on 1MDB and has ultimate responsibility under Article 117 of the company’s Memorandum & Articles of Association (M&A).
In order to settle the matter once for all, the very “gung-ho” Minister for Communications and Multimedia Salleh Said Keruak should arrange for a series of live telecast forums on whether the PAC Report had exonerated Najib of any responsibility in the 1MDB scandal. Salleh has been very “gung-ho” in asserting that Najib was not implicated or responsible in any way for the RM50 billion and RM4.2 billion mega scandals.
Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was not summoned by the PAC to its hearings on the 1MDB Scandal. No one who has not been summoned can be exonerated. The Umno/BN leaders and propagandists should point out where the PAC Report on 1MDB has exonerated Najib.
When the PAC recommended that the Board of Advisers be abolished and Article 117 be removed, it was in fact pointing the fingers at Najib.
Umno and BN leaders and propagandists are “going to town” with the PAC Report on 1MDB after it was tabled in Parliament on Thursday. One Umno/BN media even blared “No criminal wrongdoing on the part of PM”.
These propagandists had also blissfully ignored the suppression of the Auditor-General’s final audit report on the 1MDB. It should have been appended to the PAC Report on 1MDB.
I can point out the many paragraphs in the PAC Report which not only clearly calls for further investigation but point in the direction that Najib must bear responsibility for the 1MDB scandal.
